Construction Skills Multi Crafts: Carpentry & Joinery, Painting & Decorating and Brickwork

A basic introductory course covering all construction crafts - ideal as a stepping stone to higher level courses.

Description

This is a nationally recognised qualification required for progression to Level 1 courses in joinery, painting and decorating or brickwork.
It has been designed for those not currently working in a trade occupation or those who have just missed out on acceptance to the Level 1 diploma.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is continual throughout the course. You will also undertake a practical assignment and the GOLA online core knowledge test.

What will I study?

You'll study units that will cover topics such as:

- Site carpentry skills
- Flooring skills
- Levelling in construction
- Paint finishing skills
- Surface preparation skills
- Papering skills
- Cabinet making skills
- Blockwork skills
- Quoin skills
- Bench joinery skills

You will also study functional skills in English, maths and ICT.

What does the course lead to?

Upon successful completion you could progress to the Level 1 Construction Diploma in Brickwork, Carpentry and Joinery or Painting and Decorating.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements are minimal but you will need to undertake an initial assessment, aptitude test and complete a successful interview.
