How long is the course?

Two Years. Normally 8 hours over two evenings per week or one afternoon and one evening per week, with occasional all day events.

You will also need to dedicate a substantial amount of time to research and work outside the classroom.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment methods are varied and may include written reports, presentations, time-constrained assignments, case studies, individual/group projects and reflective statements.

Where modules are work-related, assessment will relate to your own organisation (where appropriate) and/or vocational setting.

What does the course lead to?

Business management graduates are qualified for a range of careers, including management, marketing and finance positions in the public, private and voluntary sectors.

Completed foundation degrees are worth 240 CATS points in line with the UK universities’ credit accumulated transfer scheme.

What can I go on to study?

On successful completion of the foundation degree, you will be eligible to apply to the BA (Hons) Business and Management top-up award validated by Birmingham City University and available at Vision West Nottinghamshire College, or to other appropriate top-up degrees.

Entry requirements

All applicants will be invited to an interview to discuss qualifications, experience and any other related issues.

To start this course you will be expected to have successfully completed, or have evidence of working towards, a minimum of one of the following:

  • Appropriate A Levels and three GCSEs at grade C or equivalent*
  • NVQ Level 3 in a related subject
  • Appropriate BTEC National Certificate with MM profile or Diploma with MMP profile or above
  • Other relevant Level 3 qualification

*including English and Mathematics

If you have substantial, relevant work experience rather than qualifications, we will discuss this at interview and take it into consideration.

Candidates not currently in work are encouraged to seek relevant part-time or voluntary employment.

Literacy and numeracy skills at Level 2 are essential and students may be invited or required to attend numeracy classes at the start of the programme.
