You will study core units in:
  • Information Technology
  • Study Skills
  • Level 1 and Level 2 Maths Skills
  • Level 1 and Level 2 English Skills
  • Progression skills

If you need support your personal tutor will meet with you regularly to give academic and personal support. We will arrange for you to have Additional Learning Support if you need it and careers advisors work within the college to provide expert advice.

How will I be assessed?

The core units will be continually assessed and the assignments presented in a portfolio to a moderator.

GCSEs will be assessed by coursework and exams throughout the year.

Functional Skills tests in maths and English are also taken.

What does the course lead to?

Upon completion of the course you could opt to study on a level 3 Access to HE course, get a job with your improved employment opportunities, or progress to further study at level 2 or 3.

How much does it cost?

You may be eligible for remission of fees if you receive state benefits.

How do I apply?

All students should complete an application form for a full-time course (even if intending to study part-time). You will then be invited to take an Initial Assessment; then, later, you will be invited to an interview with a member of the Fresh Start team.
