Who is this for?

This course is aimed at people who have made a start at learning a non-European language, and who have the frustrating feeling that they have got stuck!

What is it about?

This course is intended to give participants fresh ideas for their specific language learning situation, and to give them new courage to keep going on their way towards a higher level of language proficiency. It is based on the communicative language learning approach espoused by Greg Thomson. It is mostly practical. There is individual tutoring.

Purpose and Prerequisites

This course is aimed at people who have made a start at learning a non-European language, and who have the frustrating feeling that they have got stuck!

This course is intended to give participants fresh ideas for their specific language learning situation, and to give them new courage to keep going on their way towards a higher level of language proficiency. It is based on the communicative language learning approach espoused by Greg Thomson. It is mostly practical. There is individual tutoring.

How does it work?

After an initial stock-taking you will receive, by email, information and food for thought that are tailored to your specific language learning situation. From time to time you answer questions at your desk and email them to the course tutor. The main part of the course consists of trying out and practising new techniques with your language assistant.

What do you need?

Ideally at least 6 hours per week over a period of 6-8 weeks;

A language assistant (mother tongue speaker of the language you are trying to learn) with whom you can practise during the course;

Access to email;

A recording device that can record and play back spoken language.
