This course will provide the student with the ability to investigate and understand the needs and responsibilities of a consumer in a changing multicultural and technological world. A range of current social health, consumer issues, and food issues are studied and the student has the opportunity to develop a critical appreciation of the world around her/him. There is an opportunity to conduct practical activities as part of the personal study at A2 and in the Resource Management module at AS

Course Outline

AS Level
- Society & Health — this module enables students to develop a critical understanding of the issues that affect the individual, families and households such as health, poverty, employment and homelessness.
- Resource Management — this module enables the student to develop a critical understanding of the need to manage resources such as food, finances, consumer rights in an ever changing world.
Assessment is 100% examination.
A2 Level
- Nutrition & Food Production — this module enables students to explore the relationship between food, nutrition and health alongside some aspects of food technology.
- Personal Study 2 — 3,000 word investigation into a subject of your own choice based on any part of the syllabus.
50% examination and 50% coursework.
