You will learn the English you need to help you settle into life and work in the UK. The course includes a citizenship element which enables students showing progression between levels to apply for UK citizenship.
The course follows the following units:
- Listening to instructions/discussions, telephone calls, in shops/at work, to the television and radio
- Speaking in various functional situations e.g. at the shops/post office, at the doctors/at school, in telephone calls and in conversations/discussions
- Reading various media e.g. letters, notes, messages, newspapers, magazines, instructions

You will take exams at the end of the term that test your speaking
and listening or your reading and writing.
You will work individually in pairs and in groups in class using a
variety of resources including IT and the many resources available
on the internet to support your literacy/ English.
You will work towards a UK English Qualification.
This course is open to EU nationals. For details of entry requirements and regulations connected with non-EU nationals, asylum-seekers and spouses please contact the department. All prospective students must have an assessment before they access the course.

You will study grammar, speaking and listening, reading and writing at an appropriate level and work towards a UK English Language Qualification. Please note these are NOT international exams and are not recognised in other countries.
