Edexcel BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Horticulture
Students are required to attend College one day a week, either
on a Monday or Tuesday for Years 12 and 13.
Times of attendance required are between 9.15am – 4.50pm.
The aim is to meet the needs of learners who work or wish to work in the horticulture industry and to allow the students to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment or career progression in the horticulture sector. We use naturally occurring opportunities and every week students will be timetabled to work within the extensive gardens and grounds at Bicton.

Functional Skills
You will also work towards nationally recognised functional
qualifications in English, Maths and ICT.
The teaching of these subjects will be a combination of both
theory and practical sessions as well as independent research.
Assessment strategies will consist of written evidence, research,
reports, practical assessments and presentations.
Successful learners may progress to a Higher Education programme
or employment
The BTEC Subsidiary Diploma earns UCAS Tariff points which combined
with A levels can gain entrance into University.
All progression routes are reliant upon the student reaching
certain levels in Literacy and Numeracy.
