This is a 9 unit course on the theory and practice of horticulture.
It is taught in a realistic working environment at Brinsbury. It is
designed to give you skills relevant to working in the vibrant
horticulture industry, in areas such as landscaping, plant
production, science, management, greenkeeping and groundsmanship.
There are many opportunities to get involved in practical projects
both at the campus and beyond, including Gold Medal winning show

knowledgeable teachers and staff What will I Study? There are 9
units on the course, including Plant and Soil Science, Business,
Work experience, Structures and surfaces, Turf, Surveying, Walls
and Timber structures. There are a number of other units available.
These subjects will be taught in an interactive manner, with
constant reference to practical skills and topical subjects in
horticulture. You will gain knowledge of relevant practical
techniques, plant identification and aspects of design. How will I
be Taught? The course will be delivered via a range of methods.
Classroom based units will be taught using the latest technology,
including distance learning methods for extra work at home.
Practical units will be taught in realistic learning environments
using both traditional and contemporary techniques. the department
has good facilities and equipment and the course also makes use of
practical projects locally. How will I be Assessed? Units are
assessed by a range of methods, including both written and
practical assessments. There is a research-based project and a work
experience unit that is assessed by a work-diary. There are no
written exams on this course. What our students say? "At the
