Gas Maintenance (city & guilds Level 3 diploma in Gas Maintenance) (Jan Start)

The Gas Installation and Maintenance course is a level 3 programme that could lead to an higher qualification. You will require the support of an employer or work placement to enable you to complete the work based evidence requirement for the level 3

Course content

Qualification: Gas Installation & Maintenance level 3 diploma The Training Programme consists of:

• On site assessments with a gas safe engineer.
• Practical assessments in college to ACS standards
• 12 theory papers

Systems: Cold water systems, hot water systems, heating systems, gas supply systems, system maintenance, effective working relationships and quality development (Including Key Skills) if required.

Entry Requirements

A minimum of 3 GCSE grades at C grade or above are required for all 16/19 year old students. All other students that have results over five years old will sit an entry test that is similar to the BPEC plumbing test.

Delivery & Assessment methods

All assessments are practically based but you will be required to build up a portfolio of your assessments that will be verified by the awarding body. There are also 12 theory test papers to be taken to achieve the award. Course Length: half year, 18 weeks December – June 2. Days a Week x 7.5 hours

Progression

NVQ Level 2 is the minimum requirement to work as a trained Installation & Maintenance engineer. Level 3 will take you onto the skills and knowledge required for supervisory jobs. The courses lead to enhanced career prospects within the industry.
