Course Overview

This Qualification Credit Framework (QCF) – Level 2 – Certificate in Housing has been designed to meet the training and qualification needs of people working in the housing sector (Local Authorities, Housing Associations, Supported housing).

Who should do this course?

  • Anyone working in a Generic Housing Environment: Hostel and Foyer staff, Sheltered Housing staff.
  • Housing staff who wish to increase their knowledge and awareness of the housing environment, especially if they are aiming to work in this area.

You will demonstrate how you meet a set of National Qualification Standards in your role within the housing environment, and show that you have the level of skills and knowledge to complete your work effectively.

The whole of the programme is delivered in the workplace setting.

Entry Requirements

  • No formal academic entry requirements (a good standard of Numeracy and Literacy)
  • Candidates must be working in a housing environment.
  • Good Literacy and Numeracy skills

All applicants will have a short informal interview to ensure suitability and individual guidance will be given in relation to the award.

What will I study?

To achieve the Level 2 Certificate in Housing you will need to successfully achieve 16 credits – 10 from the mandatory units and 6 from the optional units (selected from a choice).

Mandatory Units

  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders in a housing context
  • Maintain professional behaviour and a working relationship in a housing context
  • Maintain health safety and security of self and others.

Optional Units

  • A range of choice from which you can select – that relate to the role you complete
  • These are discussed with you at your individual guidance session, in order for appropriate units to be selected

Duration

  • You will required to attend regular workshop sessions which cover the underpinning knowledge required for your qualification
  • Your assessor will observe and assess you in the workplace to evidence your competence
  • You will be required to complete written knowledge questions to evidence your knowledge and collect evidence for your portfolio
  • You will have 10 months to complete your award
