General information

This course is suitable for students wanting to gain the internationally recognised Cambridge Key English Test (KET) qualification in English for speakers of other languages. KET is an elementary level qualification that shows you can use English to communicate in simple situations and have achieved a good foundation in learning English. KET is set at Level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference and the course will teach you to:

  • understand simple written English
  • communicate in familiar situations
  • understand short notices and simple spoken directions

Course content

  • vocabulary and grammar development
  • exam practice

Teaching and assessment

Classroom work combines reading, writing, speaking and listening skills with a focus on vocabulary and grammar. Regular exam practice takes place throughout the course.

Entry requirements

Students will be assessed to be at an elementary level.

Progression

Students can progress to the Cambridge Preliminary English Test.

Dates and times

This course begins in September and runs for 32 weeks. Students will attend the College for 10 hours per week.
