team working & organisation What will I Study? The course is
made up of 18 units in total. Five of these are the core units
designed to develop the under-pinning skills of drawing, art and
design history, the use of materials, techniques and processes, the
origination of ideas and concepts and the language of visual
communication. The first year will introduce you to a wide variety
of areas within Art and Design. You are encouraged to be
experimental as they develop visual awareness and realise the
potential of materials and ideas. How will I be Taught? There are
no exams, instead the course is delivered in the form of 4 projects
in year one and 4 in year 2 culminating in a Final Major Project
which forms the content for the End Of Year Show. A range of
techniques and processes are explored in a number of final creative
solutions; the work is then submitted for assessment with grades
ranging from: Pass, Merit and Distinction. To pass the course (and
to cope with the demands of the projects) you are expected to meet
all the targets set. How will I be Assessed? Each assignment is
assessed to a Pass, Merit or Distinction grade. There is one
deadline for each assignment. Submitting work on the specified date
is crucial as you will only have the one chance to have work
graded. What our students say? ' I enjoy art on the ND so much
better than I did at school'.
