Masters Level Module

This module stretched over the year's PGCE course, and its main focus was on school-based learning and practical teaching. With its emphasis on practical teaching, it was in this module that students gained the practical experience that helped them to achieve the Professional Standards for QTS. The module included teaching at the Institute, observation of teaching, self-study, subject knowledge development, pedagogical and professional development. The student's Institute Tutor, working with school-based colleagues, was responsible for observing the candidate's practical teaching which, together with the student's own reflections on their practice, were the main part of the assessment of Professional Practice and the candidate's progress towards meeting the Standards for QTS.
