Course Aim & Objective:
To introduce to learners an exciting and explorative way of creating art work in an unconventional way, leading to a confident and progressive approach to their work. To explore different media including not only paint but collage montage and also digital. Also to look at abstract art movements and key artists.
Each learner will be able to produce strong abstract work, that reflects their ideas and aims. Will achieve confidence in their manipulation and handling of materials and a clearer idea of the direction they want to move in.
Assessment:
One to one teaching and individual learning plans.
Progression:
Body of work from the course would go toward and be a large part of the learners portfolio which is required for advancement onto foundation art and design diploma.
Course Syllabus:
(Manipulation of still life, shape and form). We will be looking at Picasso and cubism also Abstract expressionism, Kandinsky and Arshille Gorky and how theses artists used shaped and colour to create their inner worlds.
Outcomes:
To take still life drawings and fragment either through drawing or collage and montage into abstract compositions, and eventual painting or finished piece. Also to encourage learners to develop their own style and creative approach.
