This two year course provides successful candidates, on completion, with a professional qualification in counselling and enables progression toward BACP accreditation.
The programme includes the following:
• The Reflective Practitioner – an overview of the Psychodynamic, Humanistic and Cognitive Behavioural approaches to counselling
• Therapeutic Practice – with the Psychodynamic as the core theoretical approach
• Humanistic Theory – a study, evaluation and practice of Existentialist, Gestalt, Psychosynthesis and Person Centred Theories
• Cognitive Behavioural Theory in Practice
• Brief Solution Focused Therapy
• Supervision.

Course Content

This two year course provides successful candidates, on completion, with a professional qualification in counselling and enables progression toward BACP accreditation.
The programme includes the following:

• Therapeutic Practice – with the Psychodynamic as the core theoretical approach
• Humanistic Theory – a study, evaluation and practice of Existentialist, Gestalt, Psychosynthesis and Person Centred Theories
• Cognitive Behavioural Theory in Practice
• Brief Solution Focused Therapy
• Supervision.

The course has a large element of practical role plays and personal learning journals. These are assessed, both internally and externally. Candidates are responsible for obtaining a supervised clinical practice before the end of the programme and completing a minimum of 50 hours in order to qualify as a practitioner in counselling.
