Introduction

You will undertake client work in agency placements and are required to complete a minimum of 100 client hours. Saturday workshops and a residential weekend, on a range of counselling topics, supplement the learning throughout the 2 years. This course involves personal time and commitment from students to meet the many different demands which includes compilation of a portfolio, regular supervision of counselling work and 40 hours of personal therapy.

How Will I Be Assessed?

Internal assessment is based on the completion of an evidence based portfolio. External assessment is based on the completion of an audio recording with a peer, plus an associated written paper under exam conditions.

Entry Requirements

This course is recommended for those aged 21 and over. You will need to have CPCAB Counselling Studies (Level 3) or equivalent prior learning. To gain a place on the course you will be required to take part in a selection process and references will be

There will be a residential weekend in Year 1 and Year 2. Plus 10 weekend workshops - date to be confirmed.

Progression

Level 5 qualifications including a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or Level 5 Psychotherapeutic Counselling

Career Opportunities

Upon completion of the course you will be able to become a Practising Counsellor in an agency setting.
