Who the course is aimed at:

Anyone whose work brings them into contact with children including employees and volunteers. This highly participative course will enable you and your staff to get a better understanding of what safeguarding is about the process involved in child protection. Delegates will then be able to see how these fit in relation to their role in your organisation.

  • Key roles and responsibilities in relation to child protection
  • The safeguarding agenda for health and social care
  • Understand abuse, who abuses and where abuse takes place
  • Recognising abuse - possible signs and symptoms
  • Different types of abuse
  • Taking action - what to do when you are concerned about a child
  • The common assessment framework - CAF
  • Responding to a disclosure of abuse
  • Local policy and procedure
