This course will attract social science graduates, development practitioners, civil society activists and others who have an interest in issues such as social justice, rights, equity and social exclusion and their effects on the health and wellbeing of people in developing countries.

The course will enable you to work effectively at a senior level to advocate for social justice for and promote the well-being of disadvantaged, excluded and vulnerable populations in a variety of contexts. Specifically, the course will give you the opportunity to:

    This course will attract social science graduates, development practitioners, civil society activists and others who have an interest in issues such as social justice, rights, equity and social exclusion and their effects on the health and wellbeing of people in developing countries.

    The course will enable you to work effectively at a senior level to advocate for social justice for and promote the well-being of disadvantaged, excluded and vulnerable populations in a variety of contexts. Specifically, the course will give you the opportunity to:

    • undertake advanced study of social justice, development and health interactions, drawing on a range of related disciplines such as anthropology, health policy, management studies, psychology, public health and sociology;
    • engage in debates examining current and future trends affecting the health and social well-being of disadvantaged, excluded and vulnerable populations;
    • engage critically and reflexively in a range of social bodies as both professionals and citizens;
    • enhance their lifelong learning and personal development skills.



    EXIT AWARDS: MSc(180 credits)
    Delivery: Block attendance at QMUwith online support. There may be some
    flexibility in delivery of some modules on
    the basis of demand.

    Single Modules: Register as an associate student to study single modules in areas of interest

    Duration: Full-time: 1 year; Part-time: 2 - 5 years
    Start date: September and January
    Application deadline: The deadline for all overseas applicants who require a visa to study in the UK should apply no later than the 30th June 2013.
    Teaching, learning and assessment: Teaching is comprised of a combination of lectures, seminars, tutorials, case studies, simulation exercises and projects. Assessment is continuous and incorporates assignments, action plans, projects and research proposals.
    Teaching hours and attendance: Each module which you study on campus will require you to attend classes and carry out independent work. Your attendance at QMU will depend on which module you are studying and whether you are studying full or part-time.
