The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Professional (Part Time)

The professional level ACCA at Southampton Solent University offers you the opportunity to further your career by topping up your Accountancy qualifications while studying on a part-time basis. You will receive 60 hourse of tuition, including revision, and be taught by experienced professionals. The University has over 25 years of experience of delivering these courses.

Course content

All courses are completely University run and prepare students for the Association's examinations to be held in June each year.

Note: Examinations are also held in December and a student may sit a maximum of four papers in one examination session. Please check the ACCA website| to ensure Professional examinations are not on the same day as any Fundamental examinations| you may also be sitting. You will only be able to sit one examination on each day.

Students will normally have completed or at least commenced studies of the nine Fundamentals units before attempting Professional units.

• Governance, Risk and Ethics (P1)
• Corporate reporting (P2)
• Business Analysis (P3).

Option units - offered subject to demand

• Advanced Financial Management (P4)
• Advanced Performance Management (P5)
• Advanced Taxation (P6)
• Advanced Audit and Assurance (P7).

Assessment

Externally by examination. You must ensure you have contacted ACCA and completed the necessary forms (see their website for full information www.accaglobal.com|).

Please note that during May a revision course will be offered at no extra charge to the student or employer.

The ACCA is the largest accountancy body in the UK and is the global body for professional accountants. Worldwide it has approximate 147,000 members and 424,000 students in 170 countries. It is a wide-ranging qualification enabling the student to work in all areas of the profession. A member of the association can use the letters ACCA or FCCA after their name depending on the grade of the membership.

Fees

Fees for the 2012/13 academic year are £495 per paper, including complete text and exam kit (worth £56).

Discounts are 10% for students enrolling for three or more papers in one academic year, 10% for students who studied ACCA with us in previous years.
