If you are aged between 19 and 23 and don't already hold a qualification equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, and you need to study at Entry or Level 1 to progress to Level 2, tuition fees will be waived. Course Content: This course is for beginners and for those who are
new to working in payroll and wish to acquire the skills and
knowledge required of payroll clerks. It will introduce the
candidate to basic payroll calculations and preparation of both a
weekly and monthly payroll in a semi-manual environment. Candidates
have the opportunity to gain knowledge of income tax and National
Insurance calculations for the PAYE employee using manual and
computerised tables. Entry Qualification: Candidates must be
numerate and have basic skills in numeracy and communication. They
will show this by achieving Level 1 in a Literacy and Numeracy
skills test at induction. Special Features: Candidates will sit one
exam for Level 1 at the end of the course on either the specific
dates set by the IAB (International Association of Bookkeepers) or
on dates set by the college on an ‘on-demand’ basis. Course Format:
Level 1: 15 weeks Feb - June Progression: Successful candidates of
Level 1 Certificate in Payroll can progress to Level 2 Certificate
in Computerised Payroll programme.
