What can this course lead to?PgC graduates can progress to the PgD Advanced Practice in CBT to complete their qualification as a Cognitive Behaviour Therapist. This will assist in an application for accreditation as Cognitive Behaviour Therapists with the British Association of Behaviour and Cognitive Psychotherapists and/or apply for employment as Cognitive Behaviour Therapists or join the NHS workforce as High Intensity Workers in Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) Services.

Credit and UCAS requirements Credit: 60 credits Selection criteriaThe award is suitable for practitioners who are involved in the delivery of health and social care/psychologically focussed interventions across a range of disciplines, roles and service areas.
Normally applicants will be required to hold an Honours degree classification 2ii or above in a cognate subject; or have a core profession recognised by the BABCP. For applicants who do not meet these requirements non-standard entry criteria will apply. It is expected that non-standard applicants will have evidence of successful study at level 6 (or equivalent) within the preceding 5 years.
Ideally, applicants should have post-registration experience in mental health (or similar experience) and access to adult clients presenting with anxiety or depression.
Applicants who intend to progress to the MSc/PgD Advanced Practice in CBT should check the additional entry requirements.

This award is suitable for practitioners who are involved in the delivery of health and social care/psychologically focussed interventions across a range of disciplines, roles and service areas.
Programme specificationThe PgC Evidence Based Psychological Approaches: CBT is a Masters level programme for suitably qualified individuals wishing to develop their understanding of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Normally applicants will hold a relevant degree qualification or equivalent assessed against KSA (Knowledge and Skills Assessment) standards.
Accreditation informationThis programme is mapped against the BABCP minimum training standards and individuals who successfully complete this programme will be able to utilise this towards an application for BABCP accreditation.
