About This Course:

The course is designed for people who want a career in retailing. The NC provides candidates with a practical and broad introduction to retailing. This will enable you to acquire and develop the skills and knowledge required to gain employment in the retail sector or progress to further study.

What You Need:
  • Three passes or more at Standard Grade, or equivalent at band 3 or above, including English
  • We advise you to apply early as this course is very popular and places are limited
  • Before we offer you a place, we’ll invite you to an interview where you should be able to show a real interest in retail

More Information

What You Study:

The core units you’ll study include: Storing, Replenishing and Displaying Stock, Planning and Implementing an Event, Selling Skills, Stock Handling, Marketing, Buying, Fashion Show Production, Satisfying Customer Needs. You’ll also choose from optional units.

After The Course:

Career

The retail industry – buying, merchandising, marketing, promotion and other retail areas.

Continuing study

Apply for further study in a range of HNC/D courses at the college, particularly HNC/D Retail Management and HNC/D Supply Chain Management.

How Long:

One year, starting in August.
