The traditional form of head massage that has been practiced in India for over 1000 years is growing in popularity in spas and beauty salons across the UK.Our short courses will teach you how to apply that massage and understand how the therapy benefits relaxation and rebalances energy flow.
How will I be assessed?
The course is assessed by ongoing theory and practical assessment. The theory is assessed by written tests, usually weekly.There are also assignments where access to a computer is helpful but not essential. The practical Indian head massage is assessed by case studies and in salon assessment. All theory and practical work is to be collated and presented in an evidence portfolio.
What will I study?
The course covers:
- Anatomy and physiology of the head
- Neck and shoulder area, specifically skeletal, blood, lymph, skin, muscles and respiration
- Health and safety
- Professionalism and client care
- Practical Indian head massage
- Theory of Indian head massage specifically the history,
benefits and effects, chakras, use of oils and aftercare
Each student will have to carry out three case studies and must be able to provide models for these.
What does the course lead to?
You could progress onto a range of other qualifications e.g. advanced massage, aromatherapy, sports therapy, reflexology, etc.Entry requirements
Students must have a body massage qualification which enables this course to be run over a shorter length of time, and the majority of the anatomy and physiology is to be accredited by prior learning.Applicants must undergo an interview with the vocational staff.
