Professional Music Performance (BTEC Subsidiary/Extended Diploma)
This qualification gives the opportunity to study a broad range of professional music and performance related subjects. The course focuses on development for both the industry and/or higher education.
This popular route is specially tailored for practicing musicians who play instruments and wish to develop as professional performers. The course gives the opportunity to get involved with some aspects of music technology and the opportunity to work closely with the College's own record label, Forerunner Records.
The course features playing in small bands/ensembles, solo performances, MIDI sequencing and arranging musical styles. There are also elements of music theory and session musicianship.

Course content
On successful completion of the Subsidiary Diploma you will progress onto the second year to study towards an Extended Diploma giving you a full Level 3 qualification over two years.

Entry Requirements
A minimum of four GCSEs at grade C or above or Level 2 diploma in music/performing arts at graded Merit or above. Practical audition session demonstrating technical ability on chosen instrument.
Progression
This course (Subsidiary and Extended diploma) includes the elements to progress onto our HND Music Technology programme or any music/music technology based higher education course. The course specialises in giving the core skills to be able to work in the professional music industry.
